I’ve been involved with a few different media outlets in recent years:
Radio/Podcast:
I was an On-Air Presenter with ArtSound FM from 2015-2019. My primary show was Kaleidoscope but I also did the occasional spot on Down in the Basement and Disc Drive. These were all music shows which required me to put together 90 or 120 minute programs mixing an eclectic mix of music that matched whatever theme I had decided to go with, researching information about featured songs or artists, running the desk during live broadcast and doing post-production for the shows. Occasionally throwing in some interviews live chats and adreads for good measure. (I have some demos of my ArtSound shows, hopefully I will figure out a good way to put them up here without breaching music copyright or wrecking my website’s hosting)
I was also the host and producer for the Geek Deets show on Woroni Radio from 2013-2014. This was a weekly show looking at pop-culture news and events and was uploaded as a podcast. As part of this I put together the show runsheet, was 1/3 of the on-air talent and did all the post-production of the show to upload as a podcast. (Ditto with the ArtSound shows, will try to figure out a way to link to some demos of Geek Deets without causing problems)
Newspapers/Websites:
I was a Science Writer for the Woroni Newspaper from 2013-2015. There used to be a page that had all my articles listed on their website but they ‘upgraded’ the website so you can’t search by author anymore. You can go through the back catalogue here. But it’s hardly user friendly, so if you want a copy of my stuff I’d recommend contacting me. In the future I may go through it and cross-check with my personal archives to identify where my articles are but, well, it’s a low priority.
I was also a contributing authorĀ Australia’s Science Channel coverage of the Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science in 2017. That was pretty fun, although they got my AFL team wrong in the byline…
